Local products and great flavor,
enjoy the mountain cuisine of Manzanares El Real.
Manzanares El Real is a privileged enclave in its natural surroundings,
from which we have drawn resources since ancient times…
and from which we still obtain our gastronomic products.
Our Traditional Dish: Bull with Potatoes
This dish is a must at the end of our local festivities, representing the history of our town, where the transhumance of bulls was frequent enough to give rise to the Cordel de los Toros livestock trail.
The stew is made preferably with bull meat, potatoes, and vegetables, and—surprisingly—it’s enjoyed for dinner!
For over 50 years, after the patron saint festivities, residents and local associations have lovingly prepared this stew for everyone attending. In recent years, it has been organized through the charitable exchange of food products, which are then donated to the Food Bank.
Mountain Beers
To the surprise of many visitors, beer is brewed right here in Manzanares El Real! And not only here — throughout the Sierra de Guadarrama area, there are five excellent craft breweries whose creations you can taste in our local bars.
In our town, local initiative and small entrepreneurs managed to launch a craft beer brewery in 2014. True to our roots, the love of our residents for their natural surroundings inspired the brand’s name: LA PEDRIZA, one of the prides of our town, which has even won awards at craft beer fairs.
Honey from the Sierra de Guadarrama
Another star product from the surroundings of Manzanares El Real is honey. Locally produced in the nearby mountains, it has a delicate flavor that is used in a wide variety of dishes and desserts — many of which you can taste in the town’s restaurants. And if you’d like to take this sweet memory home with you, don’t forget to visit our local shops.
Goat Cheese
Goats and the Sierra de Guadarrama share a bond that goes back further than one might imagine. As one of the main products of nearby farms, goat cheese helps preserve the traditional livestock activity that defines our mountain region.
With its strong, slightly tangy flavor, goat cheese has many fans — it can be enjoyed on its own, as an accompaniment to dishes, and for the more daring, even in desserts. In local shops you’ll find a variety of delicious Guadarrama cheeses, and even artisanal yogurts made from the same goat’s milk.
Wine from Madrid
Although Manzanares El Real is not itself a wine-producing region, very nearby lies the Denominación de Origen (Protected Designation of Origin) “Vinos de Madrid,” particularly in the El Molar subzone. For wine lovers, and for its perfect pairing with our local products, we couldn’t fail to mention this wine — which you can find in our shops and enjoy served in our restaurants and bars.
As you can see, Manzanares El Real boasts a rich gastronomic culture, full of exquisite local products that we invite you to savor in the restaurants of our town.
