Our municipality is one of the migratory passages for many bird species. Together with the wide views offered by the Santillana Reservoir, it becomes a perfect place for birdwatching.
The future ornithological route will allow visitors to enjoy, with a simple walk, an astonishing diversity of birds: from emblematic species such as the White Stork, Black Stork or Grey Heron, to more discreet ones like the White Wagtail, Kingfisher or Eurasian Eagle-Owl; well-known birds of prey such as the Black Vulture or Booted Eagles; and of course aquatic birds like various ducks, the Little Grebe and the Common Coot.
This proposal aims to be friendly for families and bird-watching enthusiasts, encouraging the enjoyment of nature with the peace and respect that this activity requires. To help preserve this heritage, Manzanares El Real is part of the protected areas of the Upper Manzanares Basin and the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park, ensuring an environment of great ecological value.
The information will be updated once the route is completed and available to visitors.
